Children’s Teeth

We love seeing infants, kids and teenagers!

Taking Special Care of Children’s Teeth

Our team understand what parents and carers want for their children. They want a dental care provider who will be gentle, friendly and caring.  It can be daunting for children visiting the dentist, so we make their visit positive and they always leave with a goodie!

We love to get to know the children and their families personally and we put their needs first. We offer preventive care to ensure your child keeps their teeth strong and healthy for life.  If there’s any way we can make your child’s experience with us better, please let us know!

  • assess the development, bite and alignment of jaws and teeth (orthodontic screening)

Treatment FAQs

When should my child have their first visit?

We start to examine children’s teeth as soon as they start to come through as infants. Spending time with the parents or carers at these appointments, we discuss how to take care of these precious first teeth – how to clean the teeth at home and how diet plays a critical role in the future health of your child’s teeth. We make the visits as fun as possible so children have a great experience and enjoy coming to visit the dentist.

How do I stop cavities in my child's teeth?

The major factor in whether children develop cavities or holes in their teeth is sugar and acid. Avoiding sugary foods and drinks is critical. The best drink to have is water! Avoid any juices, soft drinks, sugary milk drinks, energy drinks and anything that is not pure water or milk. Avoid giving your infant a bottle to suck on for extended periods or overnight. Foods that help teeth are cheese, nuts, vegetables and limited fruit. Avoid processed foods and high carb foods such as crackers or bread etc as these become sugars in the mouth. Next, ensure you help your child brush effectively twice a day and start to use floss once a day. An electric toothbrush is great!

How often should my child come to the dentist?

Childhood is a busy time in a child’s mouth! There are lots of teeth coming through and being lost, jaws are growing and sometimes teeth become crowded. A dental examination including a hygiene visit twice a year will help to maintain great oral health. The dentist will identify potential concerns, preventive treatments can protect teeth from cavities and orthodontic assessments can help to plan possible early intervention.
